Meet the talent behind our Bo Peep Fashion Spread.  Kacie's images are also featured on our 2015 MontanaBride.com homepage and social media.  Kacie Q ('Q' short for Quesenberry) is an energetic and passionate photographer based out of Bozeman, Montana. Weddings, portraits, editorial and fashion fuel her photography passion. Born and raised in the great state of Montana, Kacie loves traveling, but always loves coming home to the Big Sky state. Inspired by those who step in front of her lens.

1.) What inspires you?

I'm truly inspired by the people I meet. By their story. What makes them who they are. What do they love. What are their goals. Where have they come from. All of that mixed in together gives every single person a unique story to be told. It says on the homepage of my website, "Inspired by you." And those are three words I live by. 

2.)What is your favorite place or thing about Montana?

My favorite thing(s) about Montana would have to be the people and the beauty. Montana has such a diverse range of looks and feelings to it. It's an endless adventure, a place I'm proud to call home. However, what would home be without the people who live there. The commanilty of love for the state we all have, coupled with the drive to live a life influenced by our surroundings and the characteristics of a different paced life than most brings about such a genuine feeling of living.

3.)What is your best piece of advice for a Montana Bride?

It is YOUR day. Do things your way. If you want a three minute ceremony where you and your groom walk one another down the aisle, do it. There is no wrong answer. I think when you can release the expectations of a day, you're allowing yourself to be present and enjoy what is going on, rather than worry about the little things. 

4.) How did you get into photography?

I started getting into photography when I was in middle school. When I got to high school, I took all the photo classes that were offered. Having done my undergrad in nutrition and my receiving my masters in sport and performance psychology, photography was always my go-to/for fun. It was in grad school where a coach came and spoke to one of our classes one day. He said something that was my Oprah 'Ah-Ha' moment, the lightbulb going off, the back of bricks falling on my head. He said, "Find your gift, develop your gift and spend the rest of your life sharing your gift with other people. Because in the end, other people are what truly matter." Once I graduated, I moved back to Montana, and started shooting as much as possible. It has since taken me places and done things I never could have dreamed of!

{Vendor Spotlight} Shucks Raw Bar

What a great experience.  Last night we were TREATED to a private oyster tasting with Bill and Patrick from Shucks Raw Bar.  And here’s our review…..5 stars!  For starters….the oyster were fabulous, fresh, and did we say fabulous! 

We were served 3 varieties:
1. Wiley point petite's from the Dammerscotta River Maine ~ all about the brine.  These were my  personal favorites.  A very strong flavor, a bite of the sea!

2. Shagokou's from Washington state ~ a firm texture with a strong flavor, but less so than the Wiley point petites.

3. Kummumotto's from Samish bay Washington ~ these were creamy, and very mild.  If you are one of those people who are nervous about oysters ( you need to get over that because you are missing out), this would be a perfect starter for you.

Even though the focus is obviously on the oysters, there’s so much more to the equation.  Eating oysters is about more than just the oyster....its about the experience.  Bill and Pat are great shuckers, and being a great shucker is about more than just opening oysters.  Conversation started out about the oysters and they filled us in on all the details.  Why they pick certain varieties, what creates the various  flavors, the importance of environment, the varieties they want to try…all the details to educate you on what you are eating ...  All the while, shucking away and putting out fresh oysters.  Whether you are a novice about oysters or you are a connoisseur, Bill and Pat can talk oysters with you and its pretty obvious they love doing it.  But we also talked about Montana, fishing, cabins in the mountains, and snakes (not sure how we got there!)  Like I said, this is an experience and the guys behind the bar are a big part of the experience your guests will have.


So if you are looking for that something extra to take your reception or party to the next level, we’ve got the inside line for you.  Shucks Raw Bar.  Fresh oysters shucked as your guests watch and enjoy the process and the conversation!  An interactive catering experience that will have you guests will love!

{Montana Bride Vendor Spotlight} Studio SkM

Studio SkM & Photography was founded by Shelby McCann in 2011. Shelby is a self taught photographer who can be found with her camera in one hand and her fly fishing rod in the other. 1. What inspires you?

My inspirations come from feelings. I try my best to capture how people feel instead of how they should look. I appreciate all the passion, beauty, and love between two people, instead of posing them to what they “should” look like when taking their photos. People and the emotions they illustrate, inspire me.

2. What is your favorite place in or thing about Montana?

My favorite thing about Montana is the fact that not one place in Montana is beautiful in the same way. In eastern Montana you will find fiery sunrises, sunsets, and green fields peppered with cattle. However, in western Montana’s beauty is where you will find towering snow capped mountains and the gorgeous Flathead Lake sprinkled with sailboats during the summer. I love how one place can be so different and unique yet so picturesque and complete at once!

3. What is your best piece of advice for a Montana bride?

My best piece of advice for a Montana bride (or really any bride) is to not worry about having the most “beautiful” wedding, and don’t sweat the small stuff.  You’re marrying your best friend, live in the moment. Try and remind yourself that your wedding will be over the next day, so focus on making memories that will last a lifetime.

{Montana Bride Vendor Spotlight} KC Kreit Photography

     
I started taking pictures as a child so that way as my family and I moved from state to state and traveled around the country I could capture every memory and send it back east to show the rest of my family. Taking pictures was a way of keeping in touch and it helped me feel like through those pictures they could be in our lives even when they were thousands of miles away. To this day I still take... pictures to show my family, but I also have realized that in this hobby I have begun to establish a career. Each picture I take is how I see each fleeting moment and I try to use angles and lighting to capture those moments in a unique way that will set them apart from the thousands of others that have already been taken. In my efforts to keep my pictures unique I only do a minimal amount of editing to help them retain the natural beauty of life.

What inspires you?
This picture that I chose for my vendor spotlight captures where I am in my life right now. My boyfriend, Robert, has been such inspiration and has helped immensely in helping me shape my passion into business. After 2 years of doing photography, with his support and handiwork, I was able to open up my own studio in downtown Great Falls last Saturday. I didn't want to use a picture of just myself because honestly he is a huge part of who I have become. He is my everything. With that said, while he is a huge inspiration to me, I am also truly inspired by Montana's beauty as a whole. I believe that every rolling plain, lush foothill, and towering mountain offer their own level of natural beauty. As a photographer I try to capture as much of that beauty  as I can in my photos so that way others can enjoy the natural beauty of our state.

What is your favorite place in Montana?
My favorite place in Montana is (beyond a doubt) Yellowstone! I have been fascinated ever since my family and I first vacationed there when I was a young child. Every time I go there it leaves me in awe. There are so many cool places to go and things to see.  I never get tired of seeing the beautiful colors of the paint pots and watching the bison graze. I could go on and on, but for our sake I will keep it short and sweet!

What's your best advice for a Montana Bride planning her wedding?
My best piece of advice for the Montana Bride would be this - whenever things get overwhelming with the wedding plans take a step back and remember what this day is all about! Think of all the memories you two have shared so far and of all the moments you will get to share in the future. Take a deep breath and smile because this is the day you are getting to be united with the one you love. This is your day to celebrate and be happy!

What inspires you?

I am personally inspired by seeing live music. Every show I see, I get goose-bumps…there’s something so intimate about seeing an artist perform on-stage. I am also inspired by the majesty of Montana and the people that reside here. I feel that residents of Montana choose the quality of life over the big city amenities. We are in-love with our spectacular, unspoiled nature and that inspires me every day.

What is your favorite place in or thing about Montana?

It’s hard to choose just one favorite place or thing about Montana, but I would say my experience working in East Glacier Park in my early twenties shaped who I am today and is still my favorite place. The town of East Glacier is 12 miles from Two Medicine Lake and this particular region is very scared to several Native American tribes, including the Blackfoot. You can truly feel the energy buzzing in this area. I remember sitting with my girlfriends on the bank of Two Medicine lake watching dark clouds swell above the mountains. In just a few minutes the crackling sounds of thunder and lightning forced us to huddle under a tree as it poured rain. Within 5 minutes, we saw slivers of sunshine through the clouds and decided to run into the waves pounding the shores of the lake. Swimming in warm waves, feeling the light sprinkles of rain on our face and the sun shining is a moment and a place I will never forget in Montana.  

What is your best piece of advice for the Montana Bride?

As a wedding consultant at the Helena Colonial Red Lion Hotel the very first question a bride or groom asks is, “How much will it cost?” Planning a wedding can be a huge venture full of details, and often times the couple is so overwhelmed with it all, they find refuge in asking about price because it’s the only thing they know they need to ask. 1. What inspires you?

I vowed at my wedding that my wife would “always be my greatest inspiration.”  So my beautiful wife is my greatest inspiration in all aspects of my life.  I’m inspired by my family, especially my teenage sister who is awesome in every way.  As an artist, everything inspires me, but beautiful light makes me grab my camera quicker than anything else.  I’m inspired by the power of photography.  I’m inspired by people who do big things and take chances on their dreams, people who change the world, and people who use their talents to help others.  I’m inspired by wilderness.  I’m a pretty inspired guy!

2. What is your favorite place or thing about Montana?

If you asked me this question before I moved to Montana eight months ago I could answer in one second: Glacier National Park.  Now that I live in Billings though, I think it’s the Beartooth Mountains.  Just catching a glance of the Beartooths (Bearteeth?) can brighten up my day in Billings.  Being from Nebraska, mountains are addictive to me.

3.  Best piece of advice for the Montana Bride:

It breaks my heart when I see brides stressed out on their wedding day.  I think you have to wake up on your wedding day and just let go of all stress and focus your energy on celebrating every moment of it.  Let other people do the worrying while you enjoy your time with the people you love.  And don’t make your mom do everything!  The bride and mothers of the bride and groom should have the day off!  Of course it makes it a lot easier when you have so many amazing Montana wedding professionals at your fingertips at montanabride.com.

I don't think I have one particular place that is my favorite, but having lived in Montana a good portion of my life, I love that you can travel from one side of the state to the other and experience all sorts of beauty. I love visiting the Eastern vast plains where my family's homestead is, and getting lost in beauty of extravagant mountains when I travel to the West. It's a state like any other and it's vastness provides endless possibilities for exploration and recreation, much of it I excitedly have yet to do!

What is your best piece of advice for the Montana bride? 

Weddings never go exactly according to plan. Hire the best professionals to worry about the chaos while you fearlessly have fun on your wedding day. Enjoy, embrace, and splurge to have it captured in a way that will leave you breathless for years to come! Too quickly the day comes and goes, you want to be able to relive the moment you said "I Do.

We are a father daughter team of professional photographers. Jennie Lynn and I shoot individually for clients and sometimes together when our schedules allow.  We travel around Montana, the United States and beyond, photographing for wedding and advertising clients that value insightful and remarkable imagery. Recent destination weddings include San Diego, Fort Worth, the Bahamas, and the beautiful Hill Country near Concan, Texas.  This summer will find us in New York City in August and again in March of 2015.

Of course the list of destinations would not be complete without mentioning the weddings we photograph all over the “Big Sky Country” of Montana from Glacier National Park to Yellowstone National Park.

Our photography styles are influenced by a passion for beauty and the love of spontaneous moments. The phrase “beauty… as it occurs naturally” has come to define my personal view as a professional photographer and as a human being. I see my work as one that looks for and captures the beautiful moments that arise in every aspect of life. The celebration of the union of two people in marriage is full of this naturally occurring imagery.


We invite you to visit our beautiful, light-filled studio conveniently located 15 minutes from both downtown Bozeman and the airport. Our studio and office is upstairs with a great view of our Bridger mountains.

What inspires you?
Here in Montana, inspiration is in the environment.  All I have to do is step outside and look at the mountains in my backyard and the sky above.  The immense scope of the Absarokee mountains, the vibrant waters of the Yellowstone river and the lush, high mountain lakes and valleys near Livingston, Montana; these are my source of inspiration. 

What is your favorite place or things that I love about Montana?
My favorite place is the Paradise Valley, the scenery is awe inspiring and Yellowstone River is pure magic. And, my favorite thing is (you guessed it) swimming in the Yellowstone as much as possible.

         What is your best piece of advice for the Montana Bride?
‘FIT’.......Information offered by photographers to their potential clients is often titled “Packages and Pricing”, “Investment” or “Pricelist”.  Initially, the information presented is very necessary to find a photographer that meets your budget or price point.  However, it usually doesn’t go deeper to cover a much more important issue when hiring a photographer. That is something I call ‘FIT’.

‘FIT’, has nothing to do with packages or even price. Most photographers offer pretty much the same products, prints, albums, files, etc. which you can see and choose as an end product. But, how do you know if a photographer is a good ‘FIT’ and will capture the authenticity of your wedding?   As a wedding photographer, ‘FIT’ is so important to me that I often adjust my pricing and package contents for a couple that I relate well to.

If I truly enjoy the experience of shooting for a couple, the result is more inspired and beautiful photography.  It’s true.  Think about it, if you like the person you work for, you will be a more productive employee. The same is true with most photographers.  Just say’n.  So… how do find a photographer that is a good FIT for you?

The answer is simple. Narrow down your choices by studying wedding photography websites.  See who makes the images that speak to you.  Then meet with photographers face to face.  Realize that they will be with you for the duration of ‘your’ wedding day.  Remember this is your wedding day, not theirs!  Wedding photography is not a show or a charade. It is a service provided by those of us that have a gift for capturing images of life and love. If you choose well, you will remember the magical moments in the images they captured for years to come.

2.- What is your favorite place in or thing about Montana

I LOVE the Beartooth Mountains! There are some really incredible places in MT but this has to be one of my favorites. Endless waterfalls, lakes, hiking trails, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, fishing, these mountains have it all. I can never get enough of the adventures Montana has to offer. This is the place my husband and I fell in love and started a life together. This is where we said, “I DO.”

3. - What is your best piece of advice for the Montana Bride

Enjoy the season of being engaged, there is nothing like it. This is a fun and exciting time in your lives, be sure to appreciate it. Take a moment to realize it’s all about celebrating life with someone you love, and if you get stressed take a break. It will all come together just let all the little details go and hire amazing people to help pull the day together so you and your family can relax and enjoy the day.

The places I love the most, well there are so many!  I love the mountains in summertime and the rushing water.  I think the thing I like about MT the most is how absolutely beautiful this place is no matter the season.  

3. What is your best piece of advice for the Montana Bride?  

Focus on what matters most to you.  Don't let tradition dictate your wedding.  And spend the money to hire professionals.  I promise you will be happy you spent the money in the right places to ensure a successful and stress free wedding!
